THE MONOCHROME MIAMI EXPERIENCE
-
Monochrome Miami is an immersive photographic experience that takes you into the streets of Miami to photograph the city from a different perspective.
Rather than simply visiting landmarks and taking snapshots, you'll learn to see Miami through light, shadow, contrast, composition, people, architecture and unexpected moments.
This isn't a conventional Miami tour. It's a photography experience.
-
Absolutely not.
Our experiences are designed for photographers of all skill levels—from complete beginners to experienced enthusiasts.
You don't need to know complicated camera settings or have a portfolio. Come with curiosity, a willingness to explore, and a camera you're comfortable using.
We'll take care of the rest.
-
Whatever camera you have.
Leica, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, film camera—or your smartphone.
You don't need expensive equipment to make a great photograph.
The goal is to teach you how to see, anticipate and compose. Your camera is simply the tool you use to capture it.
-
No.
While Monochrome Miami is built around the art of black-and-white photography, you are welcome to photograph in color during the experience.
You'll learn how to recognize the light, contrast, shapes, textures and moments that make a compelling monochrome photograph—even if you're using a color camera.
-
Not in the traditional sense.
We aren't simply taking you from one Miami landmark to another.
We're walking, observing, waiting, anticipating and photographing.
The city itself becomes our subject, and every experience is different because Miami is constantly moving.
-
Our experiences take place in some of Miami's most photogenic neighborhoods and streets.
Depending on the experience, locations may include Miami Beach, South Beach, Downtown Miami, Little Havana, Wynwood and other areas where the city's people, architecture, light and energy create compelling photographic opportunities.
Your specific meeting location and instructions will be provided when you book.
-
Street photography means being on your feet and moving through the city.
The amount of walking varies by experience, but you should expect a comfortable amount of walking with regular stops to photograph, discuss techniques and look for the next moment.
Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. A 4 Hour (Half-Day) Photo Walk is approximately 10,000 steps. It’s good Heart Health!
-
Bring:
Your camera or smartphone
Fully charged batteries
Extra memory cards if needed
Comfortable walking shoes
Water
Weather-appropriate clothing
Most importantly, bring your curiosity.
-
Yes.
A companion is welcome, particularly on private experiences. If they want to photograph, they can participate. If they simply want to enjoy the experience and explore Miami with you, that's fine too.
For group experiences, please check the specific booking details for participant limits.
MIAMI AFTER DARK
What is Miami After Dark?
Miami After Dark is our nighttime street photography experience.
When the sun goes down, Miami transforms. Neon, headlights, reflections, silhouettes, architecture, nightlife and movement create an entirely different photographic environment.
You'll learn how to find and work with available light while photographing Miami after sunset.
It's Miami after dark—and you don't just get to see it. You get to photograph it.
-
No.
You can photograph Miami After Dark with virtually any modern camera, and smartphones are welcome.
We'll help you understand how to work with available light and choose practical settings for the conditions we're encountering.

Yes.
The principles of street photography don't depend on the camera.
If your smartphone is the camera you carry every day, bring it. You'll still learn how to recognize light, composition, timing and decisive moments.

Editing is included in selected workshops and experiences.
When a workshop includes post-processing, we'll show you how to take your photographs from capture to finished monochrome image using practical techniques in Lightroom and/or Photoshop.

-
Not necessarily.
If you're participating in a workshop that includes editing instruction, we'll explain what software is being used and what you'll need beforehand.
Our goal is to teach you the principles behind the process—not simply give you a collection of buttons to push.
You won't be sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture for hours.
You'll be on the streets making photographs.
Our workshops are hands-on and designed around real-world shooting conditions. You'll learn through observation, practice, experimentation and immediate feedback.
The city becomes the classroom.
WEATHER & CONDITIONS
What happens if it rains?
Miami weather can change quickly.
Because street photography is an outdoor experience, we monitor conditions leading up to each experience. If weather makes the experience unsafe or impractical, we'll work with you to reschedule.
For light rain or changing conditions, the experience may continue when appropriate.
Sometimes, Miami's unpredictable weather creates some of the most interesting photographs.
-
Cancellation and rescheduling terms vary by experience.
Please review the cancellation policy shown during booking before completing your reservation.
If something unexpected comes up, contact us as soon as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
-

We'll listen, discuss the experience with you and work to make it right.
If we can't resolve the issue to your satisfaction, we'll refund your experience fee.
Our goal isn't simply to sell you a booking.
It's to give you an experience you'll be glad you had.
-
Because we believe in what we're creating.
Monochrome Miami isn't about selling another tour of Miami. It's about sharing the way we see the city through photography—and creating an experience that people genuinely enjoy.
We'd rather earn your trust than keep your money if we haven't delivered on our promise.
-
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly during peak travel periods, weekends and holidays.
Private experiences have limited availability, so advance booking is encouraged.
-
When availability permits, yes.
Check the booking calendar for current availability. If you don't see a time that works for you, contact us and we'll see what we can do.
-
Group sizes vary by experience.
We intentionally keep experiences small enough to provide meaningful interaction, instruction and photographic opportunities.
For a completely personalized experience, consider booking a Private Miami Photography Experience.
-
Not at all.
In fact, some of the most interesting experiences can happen when you think you already know Miami.
Our experiences are designed for:
Visitors discovering Miami.
Locals rediscovering Miami.
Photographers looking to improve.
Couples looking for something different.
And anyone curious enough to see the city another way. -
Miami is famous for its color.
We take it away.
By removing color, we invite you to notice the things that can easily disappear in a colorful city—the light, shadows, faces, textures, architecture, movement and fleeting moments that give Miami its character.
You won't simply photograph Miami. You'll learn to see it differently.
